Barnett Shale rig count falls by 4 to 28

The number of active drilling rigs in the Barnett Shale was down four to 28 this week, according to RigData. Tarrant was the busiest county, with seven rigs, followed by Montague with six, Jack with four and Wise with three.

Nationwide, the rig count dipped by four to 1,778, according to Baker Hughes. Rigs seeking crude oil were down three, to 1,385; rigs seeking natural gas were down two, to 386; and miscellaneous rigs were up one, to seven. — Jim Fuquay
