The 17-year-old Saginaw teenager accused of killing a 6-year-old neighbor July 1 was moved Wednesday from John Peter Smith Hospital to the Tarrant County Jail, officials said.

Tyler Holder was shot July 23 while law officers were trying to arrest him at his home. He has been hospitalized since.

Arlington police Detective Charles Lodatto was wounded in the struggle.

Holder was booked into jail on two charges: attempted capital murder and capital murder. His bail totals $1 million.

The capital murder charge is in the slaying of Alanna Gallagher, who was found dead the evening of July 1 on a Saginaw street corner. The attempted capital murder charge is in the shooting of Lodatto.

In a jail booking photo, a large bandage covers Holder’s throat.

“Why he has certain bandages, I have no idea,” said Tarrant County sheriff’s Terry Grisham. “I think the bullet went in under his chin. You now know as much as I do.”

Holder was under guard in the “inmate patient area” for the two weeks he was hospitalized at JPS. Grisham said the number of guards was “augmented” while Holder was there.

“We’ve been in hourly communication with [medical officials] at the hospital with the intent of getting him back here for security reasons,” Grisham said. “When they felt it was a reasonable thing to do, they made it happen.”

Grisham said he did not know what medical care Holder still requires but said he will have continued “access to JPS personnel” while he's in jail.

The only difference is Holder “just changed addresses,” Grisham said.

He said Holder will be kept in a special area, “not in the general population.”

Also Wednesday, the Tarrant County district clerk’s office released another search warrant describing items seized from Holder’s home on Babbling Brook Drive in Saginaw, a few doors from where Alanna lived with her family.

The evidence list includes two handguns, four rifles, a shotgun and lots of ammunition. The weapons are a SCCFY CPX-2 9 mm handgun; a Ruger P94 .40-caliber handgun; an H&R 1871 12-gauge “Pardner” pump-action shotgun; a Winchester model 94AE .30-30 rifle; a scoped Browning A-Bolt .270-caliber bolt-action rifle; an Iver Johnson .22-caliber carbine; and a DPMS AR-15 .223-caliber rifle.

Other items on the list are a set of handcuffs, “blood swabs,” a black shirt, pants and the base of a Vitamix food preparation machine.

It was unclear Wednesday afternoon whether the guns belong to Holder. Investigators had not returned phone calls seeking clarification late Wednesday.
