Comedian and motivational speaker Kelly Swanson will be the host of the Healthy Woman program, celebrating it’s sixth anniversary.

The event, sponsored by Weatherford Regional Medical Center (WRMC), will be on Tues., Sept.17, at Southwest Ford. Festivities include a women’s health expo from 4-6 p.m., followed by dinner and one-woman show by Swanson.

An award-winning storyteller, Swanson will give an encouraging and uplifting talk about what to do when “your fairy tale life doesn’t turn out the way you planned.” In her show, Who Hijacked My Fairy Tale, titled after her popular book, attendees will learn how to cultivate a balance between the life they envisioned and the life they got.

“We all reach potholes in the yellow brick road of life where we get stuck between our vision and our reality,” Swanson said. “It’s not the obstacle that brings us down, but how we choose to react to it.”

David Orcutt, CEO of WRMC, said the event is a great way to cover a variety of topics affecting women.

“Weatherford Regional is proud to offer Healthy Woman as a community resource to Parker County,” he said. “It provides a great way for our physicians to speak on different health topics to women and their families.”

Marketing Manager Emily Lewis said the event keeps growing in popularity.

“We look forward to this signature event every year. Last year, we doubled the attendance, and we look forward to having the same great turn out in 2013,” Lewis said. “SouthWest Ford provided such a beautiful venue and it’s an excellent location to host ladies from all over Parker County.

“We are very fortunate to be able to use their location and have them as a platinum partner.”

Dr. Kimberly Strickland, Healthy Woman Advisory Council Member and physician with Lone Star Medical Group, echoed similar sentiments.

“This is an absolutely wonderful event. It’s a great place to network and meet new people. Last year was my first time to come and I loved everything about it - the health fair, the food, the speaker, even the door prizes were amazing,” she said. “This year, I’m excited to serve on the advisory council and be part of the team that makes this event possible.”

Nadia Nazeer, Marketing and Healthy Woman Coordinator, said to expect to browse the many vendors present at the event.

“More than 40 vendors will participate at the health expo, featuring a wide range of items, from healthcare services to spa products to jewelry and shoes,” Nazeer said. “We spend months working on this event to make it a relaxing and enjoyable time for the women of Parker County. This year’s presentation theme, Who Hijacked My Fairy Tale, will be an especially fun and rewarding topic for busy women across the county to hear.”

Tickets are $25 per person and are on sale now. Partnership opportunities are available for businesses that would like to participate with a booth at the event or sponsor a table of 8.
