The Grapevine-Colleyville Education Foundation is hosting “A Texas Star Welcome” to celebrate the the district’s new educators on Tuesday in Grapevine.

The annual event will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Grapevine Convention Center at 1209 S. Main St. Members of the community are encouraged to come out and offer up a big ole’ howdy!

These new educators will be treated to a yummy lunch, generously donated by Esparza’s Restaurante Mexicano of Grapevine, plus a gift tote. I have also heard door prizes will be part of the fun.

Everyone is welcome. And face it: What better way is there to give a proper “welcome” than to have the community show up with arms open! Tickets are $20, which includes lunch.

For further information, contact Janice Kane, executive director of Grapevine-Colleyville Education Foundation, at 817-251-5480 or janice.kane@gcisd.

Christmas in July

They’re calling it the “Christmas in July Special Offer,” but the best part is that this offer is available through the month of August!

Just like many organizations, members in the Arts Council Northeast run on the organization’s business year. This organization begins its membership in January. However, if you didn’t get your form filled out or forgot to get your check in, they have an amazing offer for you!

Rather than having to pay for an entire year and only have six months of membership, this group is offering a special deal. You can join for the rest of the year for only $20. And if that isn’t enough to get you to pull out the old checkbook, if you join before Aug. 31, you will also receive a $5 discount off an advance ticket to the Taste of Northeast, slated for Nov. 14 at the Hurst Convention Center at 1601 Campus Drive in Hurst.

The regular price of a “Taste” ticket is $25 in advance and $30 at the door, which means you will be getting in to one of the area’s biggest food fests for only $20.

Joining is easy. All you have to do is contact the Arts Council Northeast at 817-283-3406 or go to www.artscouncilnortheast.org and click on “Become a Member of Arts Council” located underneath the “Welcome to the Arts Council Northeast” introduction paragraph. It is that easy!
