Arlington/Midlothian hockey

The Arlington/Midlothian varsity summer hockey team fell 4-2 to Southlake Carroll in the playoffs last Thursday.

Broderick Shaw struck for Arlington/Midlothian in the first period, with assists from Amon Weihmuller and Austin Thorn.

In the third period, Ross Roberts scored a power-play goal with assists from Blake Blundred and Dakota Pando.

Goalkeeper Landon Ruhde took the loss, facing an onslaught of 30 shots on goal.

The club has already begun transitioning to fall competition and recently announced its fall season roster.

City of Arlington fall leagues

Registration is under way for fall T-ball, coach-pitch baseball and outdoor soccer youth leagues.

The fee for each is $75, with registration running until Sept. 4. Play in each league begains Sept. 28.

Registration for basketball, cheer and indoor soccer leagues will be held in October and November.

Optimist Club youth football

The Optimist Club of Arlington will wrap up in-person registration for fall youth football leagues this weekend. Registration is also available online. Opening ceremonies will be Sept. 7, after which some leagues will begin competition.

Sign-ups will be from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Optimist Hut in Senter Park, 310 E. Third St.
