A woman died when she was struck by three vehicles as she tried to cross Interstate 35W just north of Ripy Street about 9:40 p.m. Sunday, a police spokesman said.

Witnesses told police that a pedestrian crossing the northbound lanes of South Freeway from east to west was struck by a northbound vehicle, Sgt. Kelly Peel said in an email.

“The victim was knocked to the pavement and struck by two other vehicles also travelling northbound,” he said. “The vehicles that struck the victim remained on the scene after the collision and provided statements to investigating officers.”

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner had not identified the victim.
