Body found in river north of downtown Fort Worth was 18-year-old woman

Authorities have identified the woman whose body was found Tuesday floating in the Trinity River near Panther Island Pavilion.

Sarah McKinney, 18, drowned, the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office reported. Her death was ruled an accident. Her town of residence was not reported.

Her body was spotted about 1 p.m. Tuesday by an employee of the Tarrant Regional Water District who was cleaning up at Panther Island Pavilion, according to a police report.

Additional information could not be learned from police on Wednesday.

Police and firefighters, including divers, were called at 1:07 p.m. to the 400 block of North Taylor Street on the northern edge of downtown. A MedStar crew arrived at 1:11 p.m. and pronounced the victim dead by 1:15 p.m., according to previous reports.
