A fire damaged an attic to a longtime Arlington pub early Wednesday. No injuries were reported.

Firefighters extinguished the flames quickly at J.R. Bentley’s English Pub, but heavy smoke was reported throughout the building, said Arlington fire Lt. Kevin Seeton on Wednesday.

The blaze was reported shortly before 4 a.m. Wednesday in the 400 block of W. Abram Street.

Cause of the fire was still under investigation, Seeton said.

Seeton said the pub would be closed while repairs are made.

Officials with J.R. Bentley’s could not be reached Wednesday.

The English Pub opened in 1979 and is just two blocks from the Levitt Pavilion and near AT&T Stadium and Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.
