A suspect in the stabbing death of a Mansfield woman Sunday was in critical condition at a Kansas hospital after a wreck Thursday afternoon on Interstate 35, authorities reported.

Anthony Raymont Ford, 27, of Mansfield was being pursued by Kansas state troopers near the Oklahoma border, said officer Thad Penkala, a Mansfield police spokesman.

“When the Kansas Highway Patrol attempted a traffic stop, the suspect fled,” Penkala said in a news release. “A short pursuit ended when the suspect was involved in a one-vehicle wreck.”

Ford is a suspect in the stabbing death of Devon Delarosa, 23, who was found Sunday night in her apartment in the 600 block of Kingsway Drive.

Neighbors told police that they heard screams about 6:30 p.m. Sunday and saw Ford driving away in a black Pontiac Grand Am.

About 10 p.m., police received a 911 call asking for someone to check on Delarosa. Responding officers found her body on the living room floor.

Mansfield police got an arrest warrant for Ford and notified other agencies that he was last seen driving a 2004 two-door black Pontiac Grand Am GT with a missing right front hubcap.

Kansas troopers spotted the car about 2 p.m. Thursday.

The Tarrant County medical examiner reported that Delarosa was stabbed in the neck.

Ford was convicted in 2004 of assault causing bodily injury in a Mansfield case, court records show.
