House Bill 2, the abortion restrictions bill by Rep. Jodie Laubenberg, R-Parker, stresses no less than three times “the State’s compelling interest in protecting the lives of unborn children... .”

What about our interest in the lives of those already born?

Since entering the Legislature in 2002, Laubenberg has voted against education spending and child healthcare expansion. Based on SAT results, Texas ranks 47th in the nation in education and 41st in children with health insurance.

From Laubenberg’s view and that of too many in the Legislature, when you are in the womb, you are precious. When you are out: “Good luck, kid.”
