Man fatally shot at Fort Worth apartment complex identified

A man fatally shot Monday night outside an apartment in far east Fort Worth has been identified as Lawrence Gomez, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s website.

Gomez, 32, died from gunshot wounds to his chest and back, and his death was a homicide, according to a ruling by the medical examiner’s office.

No one has been arrested in the case.

The shooting was reported shortly before 9:30 p.m. Monday at the Arbors Apartments in the 3700 block of Vaucluse Drive near the Dallas//Fort Worth Airport.

Officers arrived to find Gomez suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound, authorities said. He was taken to a local hospital, where he later died.

In the course of the investigation, authorities determined that the suspect had gone to the complex looking for the victim, police said.

When Gomez stepped out of an apartment, the gunman fired numerous times.
