Man shot, wounded near UTA campus

A man was shot and wounded Tuesday morning while he was in a vehicle near the University of Texas at Arlington campus, according to preliminary police reports.

Police were still searching for the gunman.

The shooting was reported at 11:09 a.m. Tuesday in the 800 block of S. Mesquite Street just northeast of the campus.

The victim, who has not been identified, was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth. His condition was unavailable.

The suspect was described as being in his 20s or 30s.

Police have not released any additional details.
