Barnett Shale rigs increase again

Active drilling rigs in the Barnett Shale were up a third straight week, jumping by three to 33 on more activity in Tarrant and Jack counties, according to RigData. Jack was the busiest, with seven rigs, while Tarrant and Denton counties had six each and Montague had five.

Nationwide, active rigs were up two on higher natural gas activity, to 1,759, Baker Hughes reported. There were 362 gas rigs, up seven, while rigs seeking crude oil slipped four to 1,391 and miscellaneous rigs were down one to six.
