A 3-year-old found wandering around a Grand Prairie apartment complex Saturday led police to discover a dead woman.

Grand Prairie police spokesman Lyle Gensler said police received a call at 9:35 a.m. from the Williamsburg Apartments on South Carrier Parkway.

The caller said she found the girl, unharmed and unattended, walking around the apartment complex.

Officers began canvassing the area and saw an open front door. In the apartment, they found the deceased woman, believed to be in her 20s.

A news release said the incident is being treated as a homicide.

The woman’s name and cause of death were not immediately released.

“It is still early in the investigation and detectives are going through all of the evidence at the scene and developing a time-line of what the victim did in the hours and moments leading up to her death,” Gensler said in the release.
