FORT WORTH — A 41-year-old man was fatally injured early Thursday as he tried to prevent another person from driving away in a vehicle in far north Fort Worth, police said.Jerry Farmer died at 10 a.m. Friday at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office reported.A 911 call was received at 2:15 a.m. Thursday from the 7700 block of Teal Drive, said Matt Zavadsky, MedStar spokesman. The patient had a head injury, Zavadsky said.According to a police report, Farmer had intended to prevent another person, who was not identified, from using a car, so he parked it around the corner from his house. But the other person followed Farmer.“He had a spare set of keys and … got into the vehicle,” police said.As the driver turned the vehicle south onto Teal Drive, Farmer “came running toward the vehicle in an attempt to stop” it, police reported. He went onto the hood, slid across and fell, striking the back of his head on the ground, police said.Police did not report the relationship between the two.Officers are treating the death as an accident, so the driver of the car does not face charges, police said.
