The summer temperatures are rising, and what better way to beat the heat than with an icy cold drink from a fast-food place or coffee shop?

From fruity frappes to iced coffees, there are plenty of new, refreshing drinks out there to try. But if you’re looking to keep your summer figure in check, you might want to read the nutritional content before you start sipping. Some of these frozen concoctions have more calories than a full meal.

There are several fairly obvious things you can do to cut calories from traditional menu drinks — hold the whipped cream, request it be made with nonfat milk or sugar-free flavoring, or order it in the smallest size offered.

But if you feel you must have the biggest, creamiest, sweetest drink out there, at least be in the know before you go through the drive-through.
