God’s grace and Scouting

The decision by some churches to drop the sponsorship of Scouting groups is despicable, and the decision by Monsignor James Hart of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Keller is especially disturbing. (See: “Area churches ponder affiliation with Scouting,” June 18)

As a practicing “straight” Catholic, I see this as akin to a slap in God’s face.

These are God’s children who, through no fault of their own, were born into this world as gay or lesbian human beings. God made everyone, regardless of race or sexual orientation.

At a time in their lives when Scouting could give them confidence and make an important mark, someone has the audacity to tell them that they’re not fit to be in a Scout troop with “normal boys”?

Shame on you. There but for the grace of God go you.
