Church plans casino night

St. Jude Catholic Church will host its second Casino Night at 6 p.m. Aug. 10 at the Classic Oaks Ranch, 7100 FM 2738.

This year’s theme is Denim and Diamonds, with black jack, poker, roulette, craps, slots and more planned. Great appetizers and beverages served from 6-9 p.m. Silent and live auctions will include grills, trips, fire pits, electronic items and more. Tickets are $30 and available at the church office, 500 E. Dallas St., or at the door. All participants must be 18.

Meditation hour slated for Saturday

St. Gregory Episcopal Church will host An Hour with Jesus from 7-8 p.m. Saturday.

In today’s world, full of hustle, bustle and noise, it is easy to forget to take the time and check in with the father. Join us at St. Gregory, 1091 Country Club Drive, for an hour of meditation. Trinity hosts “God Bless America”

Bring the family June 30 for an old-fashioned picnic and a musical program celebrating America and Independence Day. We’ll join with the choir and other musicians in singing “God Bless America,” “Yankee Doodle,” “America the Beautiful” and several other favorites.

The free picnic will begin at 5 p.m. and the program begins at 6 p.m. Trinity Presbyterian Church is located on Clover Hill Drive at Walnut Creek in Mansfield.

St. John Lutheran preps for VBS

The Mansfield community is invited to join the Kingdom Rock Vacation Bible School, where kids are empowered to stand strong for God. They'll discover that God’s victorious love isn’t just a fairy tale, it changes us forever. Join this royalty-rockin’ realm for fun crafts, jamming music and awesome Bible lessons.

VBS runs from 9 a.m.-noon July 15-19. VBS is for children ages 3 1/2 years to those who have completed fourth grade. Early registration price is $20 per person, with a family maximum of $35 for two or more children. Registration is open online at or pick up printed forms in the church office.

VBS plans an Escape to Athens with Paul

Imagine leaving a life of privilege and power to face angry mobs, painful imprisonment and chain-breaking earthquakes—all to spread the life-changing truth of God’s love. Learn the jaw-dropping story of the Apostle Paul straight from Paul.

Paul will inspire kids to share the truth of God’s immeasurable love at Athens VBS. Crafts, team-building games, cool Bible songs and tasty treats are just a few activities that will help faith flow into real life as the children experience Escape to Athens with Paul. This exciting VBS for children from 3 years old through completed fifth grade is from 6-8:30 p.m. July 8-11.

Walnut Ridge slates summer day camps

Walnut Ridge Baptist Church is hosting a series of day camps to keep children active throughout the summer. Get more details or register online at

Kindergartners through fourth-graders can register for dance camp, which will be held from 8:30-11:30 a.m. July 8-11. Cost is $55. Instructor Katie Reece will teach the basics of dance styles and techniques.

Worship camp will be held from 8:30-11:30 a.m. Aug. 5-8. Cost will be $45 per child, $55 after July 22. Kindergartners through fourth-graders will learn to worship through song, dance and musical instruments in this interactive camp.

Fit camp is set for 8:30-11:30 a.m. Aug. 12-15. Cost is $45 per child, $55 after July 29. Kindergartners through fourth-graders will play a variety of games and fitness activities and learn to make good food choices.

Catholic women plan monthly Bingo

St. Jude Catholic Church will now offer Bingo every month instead of every other month. Bingo packets are $25 to play 14 games. Cover all guarantee payout is $300.

The hall opens at 6 p.m. with first call at 6:30 p.m. Food and drinks will be available for purchase.

Upcoming dates for Bingo are July 13, Aug. 3, Sept. 14, Oct. 12, Nov. 9 and Dec. 14 at the St. Jude Parish Hall on the corner of Graves and Dallas streets.
