Train crashes into pickup

At 8:19 a.m. Thursday, a red Z-71 pick-up driven by Thomas H. Schwartz, 47, was struck by a Union Pacific train.

According to DPS officials, Schwartz was driving west on Newberry Road when he was trying to make a right hand turn onto Doss Road. That's when the Union Pacific Engine, GE - 2013, which was also heading west, struck the front left quarter panel of Schwartz's pickup.

The train conductor, Jame Logan, was not injured, however, Schwartz was transported to Weatherford Regional Medical Center with lacerations to his face. His injuries were considered non- life threatening.
