Arlington/Midlothian hockey

The Arlington/Midlothian varsity hockey team defeated Marcus last Thursday 10-4, running its record to 5-1 in summer AT&T Metroplex league play.

Ross Roberts and Tanner Allen had two goals, with others coming from Zach Loggins, Kyle Carpenter, Trison Wilson, Brooks Blackburn, Blake Blundred and Ian Linna.

Goalkeeper Nick Grimes took the win, facing 24 shots and saving 20.

Arlington faces a strong Southlake team at 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Euless Dr Pepper StarCenter Green Arena.

Optimist Club youth football

Optimist Club of Arlington will register for fall youth football leagues for six consecutive Saturdays through July and August.

Sign-ups will be from 9 a.m. to noon July 6 through Aug. 10 at the Optimist Hut in Senter Park, 310 E. Third St.

Goalkeeping camp

Next Level Goalkeeping is partnering with JATO Athletics and One Soccer Schools to provide a five-day goalkeeping camp at UT Arlington in July.

The camp will focus on developing technical proficiency in shot-stopping, service into the box, breakaways, distribution, speed, power, agility and more.

Mornings and afternoons will be filled with drills and training sessions, while evenings will feature matches to simulate game situations, along with lectures and videos.

The camp is July 14-18.

City adult leagues

Registration for adult basketball, volleyball and kickball leagues through the city of Arlington ends June 30. Team fees: $220 for volleyball, $375 for basketball and $225 for kickball.
