TCU defensive back David Jenkins has been dismissed from the team, according to the school.

Jenkins, as first reported by TCU 360, turned himself into police Thursday evening after two warrants were issued for his arrest on suspicion of burglary of a habitation.

“When our student-athletes do not conduct themselves as proper members of the campus community, they lose the privilege of representing Texas Christian University and wearing the Horned Frogs uniform,” TCU athletic director Chris Del Conte said in a statement.

Jenkins, a sophomore, was listed behind cornerback Kevin White on the Frogs’ post-spring depth chart. He was unable to play last year after transferring from LSU, per NCAA transfer rules.

TCU coach Gary Patterson told the campus student news organization by email that he was “very disappointed in [Jenkins’] actions.”

Patterson did not return calls for comment.

Patterson spoke about the importance of Jenkins’ continued improvement during spring practice, saying at one point that Jenkins and sophomore Travoskey Garrett could potentially start at the boundary cornerback spot if White were moved to safety.

“We really need for them to keep coming forward,” Patterson said in late March. “They’re bigger corners, they could really help us against some of the people we play.”

With Jenkins’ short-lived TCU career seemingly over, the Frogs will rely on Garrett, senior Keivon Gamble and a crop of incoming freshmen for depth.
