Alexandria rallies late to overtake Cats in 10th

Chad Bunting singled to left with two outs in the 10th inning to drive in Austin Newell and give the Alexandria Aces a 4-3 come-from-behind victory Wednesday over the Fort Worth Cats.

The Aces rallied for two runs in the seventh, and one run in both the ninth and the 10th.

The Cats were in command early. Kori Melo doubled with one out in the first and scored on a double by Daniel Meeley to put the Cats up 1-0.

Greg Bachman hit a two-run homer in the top of the sixth inning to extend the Cats’ lead to 3-0.

Cats starter Cole Stephens took a two-hit shutout into the seventh but gave up a leadoff homer to Newell and a two-out RBI single to Craig Littleman that cut the lead to 3-2.

Alexandria’s Michael Haynes led off the bottom of the ninth with a home run off Cats closer Boomer Potts to tie the game 3-3.
