New Orleans Saints outside linebacker Victor Butler tore an ACL after banging knees during Tuesday’s organized team activities and could miss the 2013 season, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.Butler, who signed a two-year, $3 million contract in the off-season after spending his first four years with the Dallas Cowboys, will have surgery when swelling in his knee subsides and he could end up on injured reserve.The injury occured when running back Mark Ingram caught a swing pass and collided with Butler, who eventually got to his feet but had to be helped off the field.Butler’s signing with the Saints had reunited him with defensive coordinator Rob Ryan, his coach in Dallas the past two seasons.Goodell backs RedskinsNFL Commissioner Roger Goodell says the Washington Redskins nickname is a “unifying force that stands for strength, courage, pride and respect.”Goodell was responding to a letter from 10 members of Congress who want the name changed because it is offensive to many Native Americans.He cited the nickname’s origins and polls that support its popularity.
