Three men were in custody Wednesday, accused of breaking into a woman’s northeast Benbrook home, then beating and tying her up.

The suspects were identified as Erik D. White, 22; James Edward Burns, 19; and Dvonte Dmarr Chadwick, 18. They were in the Benbrook Jail with bail set at $500,000 each.

The crime was reported at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday when a neighbor called police after noticing a suspicious car in a driveway in the 4000 block of Winding Way, said officer Sandy Eubanks, a police spokesman.

When the first officer arrived, he reported that a man jumped out of the car and ran.

“The officer chased him into a wooded area,” Eubanks said. “When the other officers got there, they checked the residence and found [the woman] bound.”

Eubanks said the elderly woman told police that two men had entered her home, hit her and tied her up.

“Two other suspects were later detained and taken into custody,” he said.

The three are expected to be charged with aggravated robbery, police said.

The woman was treated at a hospital and released, Eubanks said.
