Three men were in custody Tuesday after a woman was found bound and beaten in her home on the northeast side of Benbrook.

The crime was reported at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday by a neighbor of a residence in the 4000 block of Winding Way, said officer Sandy Eubanks, a police spokesman.

The neighbor called police after noticing a suspicious vehicle in the driveway of the home, Eubanks said.

When the first officer arrived, he reported that a man jumped out of the car and ran.

“The officer chased him into a wooded area,” Eubanks said. “When the other officers got there, they checked the residence and found [the woman] bound.”

Eubanks said she was described as an “elderly” woman.

She told police that two men entered her home, hit her and tied her up, Eubanks said.

The man chased down by the officer was in the Benbrook Jail, Eubanks said.

“Two other suspects were later detained and taken into custody,” he said.

None of their names was available Tuesday. The exact charges that they face also were unavailable.

The woman was treated at a hospital and released, Eubanks said.
