Area football players nominated for U.S. Army All-American Bowl

Seven Tarrant County football players have been nominated to play in the 2014 U.S. Army All-American Bowl.

The players are: RB Cedric Dale, Keller Timber Creek HS; DB Edwin Freeman, Arlington Bowie; DL Myles Garrett, Arlington Martin; RB Daniel Gresham, All Saints, OL Demetrius Knox, All Saints; DB Edward Paris, Mansfield Timberview, and DB Brandon Simmons, Mansfield Timberview.

The annual East-West game will be televised live Jan. 4, 2014, from the Alamodome in San Antonio at noon on NBC.

The athletes were nominated by the U.S. Army All-American Bowl Selection Committee, which consists of All American Games, 247Sports – the Bowl’s official online recruiting network -- and All American Games’ network of regional coaches throughout the country.

Of the 400 nominees, 90 will be selected and invited to the U.S. Army All-American Bowl. The next step for the nominees occurs in September, when the U.S. Army All-American Bowl Selection Tour begins. Player finalists along with U.S. Army All-American Marching Band musicians will be announced nationwide throughout the Fall, with the Selection Tour ending in early December.
