The TCU men wound up tied for 12th in the team standings after posting three top-seven finishes Saturday at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Ore.

Senior Cameron Parker (52 feet, 4 inches) finished fifth in the triple jump while the 4x100 and 4x400 relay squads each finished seventh.

Senior Charles Silmon, who won the 100 meters Friday, was taken off the 4x100 relay and didn’t run in the 200 final.

“He was too sore to go,” TCU coach Darryl Anderson told Gofrogs.com. “We are being cautious. He has a lot of competition ahead of him.”

Drop costs A&M

A dropped baton cost the Texas A&M men an outright NCAA title. The Aggies finished last in the 4x400 relay after mishandling the baton before the first exchange, propelling event winner Florida into a tie for the title.

A&M, with Mansfield Timberview grad LaKeidra Stewart leading off and Fort Worth Dunbar grad Ashley Collier on the anchor, won the 4x100 women’s relay (42.88). Kansas beat A&M 60-44 for the women’ team title.

North Texas’ Shahaf Bareni jumped a school-record 6 feet to finish seventh in the women’s high jump.
