A Star-Telegram exit poll of final round audience members streaming out of Bass Hall after Vadym Kholodenko’s wildly popular performance of Prokofiev seemed to be equally wild for the 26-year old Ukrainian.

With adjectives ranging from “energetic” to “passionate,” a random selection of the hall’s audience, who hailed from Sacramento to Fort Worth, struggled to come up with just the right way to describe Kholodenko’s style.

Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra music director Miguel Harth-Bedoya even seems to be having a bit of a “bromance” with him. The conductor hugged Kholodenko, who is staying with a Harth-Bedoya family friend, backstage after his performance as a flock of autograph-seekers gathered outside the stage door.

But it was finally up to Zhaohui Liu of Beijing to declare boldly: “I just so know that Vadym is the winner — no doubt.”
