AT THE DRIVE-IN

Looking for a way to experience a little childhood nostalgia this summer? Then look no further than the newly opened Coyote Drive-In in Fort Worth. Located next to LaGrave Field, the drive-in accommodates up to 1,300 cars and features three jumbo screens, an open-air pavilion, a children’s play area and a beer garden. Coyote Drive-In is open for business seven days a week (starting at 6 p.m every day), and tickets can be bought online or at the box office. Price of admission is $8 for adults and $6 for children 6 years and under. Children 2 years and under get in free. Dogs are welcome, as well as horses (the drive-in is outfitted with hitch posts). DESIGN STYLE

Ronda Rice Carman, who started allthebestblog.co.uk, looks at how designers incorporate their philosophies into their personal space. Designers at Home is a sumptuous tabletop accent as well as an informative look into how 50 designers on both sides of the Atlantic live their work. Carman takes readers into an eclectic mix of homes — there’s Michelle Nussbaumer’s 1940s Regency Style in Dallas and Vicente Wolf’s Hell’s Kitchen loft, as well as Kathryn M. Ireland’s 18th-century farmhouse in France and Katharine Pooley’s Scottish castle. The book is filled with photographs and easy conversation as the designers explain their philosophy and how it translates into gorgeous, yet comfortable homes. TWENTY AT THE TOWER

The Fort Worth Food + Wine Festival isn’t until March next year, but festivities are already underway as planners are hosting Twenty at the Tower — 20 nights of pop-up dinners every Sunday and Monday night through July 29. Each dinner features an hors d’oeuvre reception and multicourse meal from a different festival chef participant. As far as who the chef is each week — that’s a surprise to guests upon arrival, adding to the fun. The culinary lineup includes Jon Bonnell, Blaine Staniford, Eric Hunter, Kevin Martinez, Juan Rodriguez, Michael Thomson, John Tesar and Scott Gottlich. ORIGAMI FOR A GOOD CAUSE

On Saturday, June 8, Paper for Water comes to the Amon Carter Museum of American Art for its first Fort Worth workshop and sale. This Dallas-based nonprofit raises money for clean water in Africa and India through the sale of original, handmade origami ornaments — many of which are made by the charity’s founders, sisters Isabelle Adams, age 9, and Katherine Adams, age 7. Since November 2011, the girls’ efforts at folding, fitting and selling the decorative pieces, which can require up to four hours and 30-plus colorful paper squares to assemble, have raised more than $135,000 to help build more than 25 wells in Ethiopia and India through the Houston-based Living Water International. It’s an impressive achievement that has garnered the girls numerous awards and even a speaking gig before the New York chapter of U.N. Women. They’ll bring their origami expertise to the Amon Carter Museum’s Family Day event from noon to 2 p.m., teaching folding techniques, presenting information about the importance of clean and safely accessible water, and selling completed ornaments and more in the museum’s gift store ranging from $5 to $100. MAKING BLACK TIE BRILLIANT

Steven Bryant’s business is color — as a veteran wig and makeup designer for opera stages, he deals with brilliant costumes, extravagant pigments and elaborate design every day.
