Matt Oberste’s two-run single in the fifth inning gave Oklahoma the lead for good, helping the Sooners rally for a 7-3 victory over Coastal Carolina in an NCAA Blacksburg, Va., regional game.

Oklahoma (41-19), the No. 2 seed, trailed 3-0 after the Chanticleers scored two runs in the first and one in the second off pitcher Jonathan Gray.

But Gray, considered a top draft prospect, kept Coastal Carolina off the scoreboard for the rest of the game. Gray (10-2) pitched a complete game, giving up three runs —two earned — and nine hits. He struck out 11 and walked one.

Max White went 4 for 5 with two RBIs to pace the Sooners.

Corvallis, Ore. Regional

Austin Pettibone scattered two runs on seven hits over 72/3 innings and UC Santa Barbara opened the NCAA tournament with a 6-4 victory over Texas A&M.

The Gauchos (35-24) went up 1-0 in the second inning before adding two more runs in the third on a hit-and-run RBI single by Woody Woodward and an error by Texas A&M center fielder Krey Bratsen.

The Aggies (32-28) scored on Mikey Reynolds’ RBI double, but the Gauchos chased Aggies starter Daniel Mengden (8-4) in the fourth with two more runs to take a 5-1 lead after four innings.

Eugene, Ore., Regional

Blake Fox’s two-out single to left field in the 11th inning drove in the winning run in Rice’s 3-2 win over San Francisco.

Dons left fielder Derek Atkinson apparently lost Fox’s fly ball in the sun at PK Park, allowing the ball to drop in for a single and Leon Byrd to score from third base.

Keenan Cook, Geoff Perrott and Fox had two hits apiece for Rice (41-17), the second seed in the regional. Mitchell Rowan and Zachary Turner had two hits each for San Francisco (34-22), the third seed.

Baton Rouge Regional

Luke Plucheck hit a solo home run in the second inning and a two-run double in the seventh, leading Sam Houston State to a 4-2 victory over Oregon State.

Plucheck went 3-for-4 and knocked in three runs.

Louisville, Ky., Regional

Chris Diaz struck out 10 in seven shutout innings and Garrett Kennedy homered as No. 2 seed Miami cruised past Oklahoma State 7-0.
