Tina and Ted Gorski are hosting pianist Luca Buratto from Italy for the 14th Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. They are sharing their experiences with the Star-Telegram.

May 29, 2013: Thanks to the beautiful Steinway concert grand ( a gift from Van Cliburn in honor of the opening of our new building) and the acoustically fine auditorium, the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth is a perfect spot for some extra competition practice.

Luca has been going to work with me in the mornings and my colleague, Karen Seidler, has been bringing her competitor, Nikolay Khozyainov, for afternoon practices. Tonight we'll find out if the Modern Steinway has any special magical powers!!

There is no doubt that if the Gorski family were sitting on the Cliburn Jury our brilliant Numero Otto would definitely become one of the Big Twelve.

But since we were not invited to vote, we have created our very own awards!

* Gorski family bronze medal for charm, good humor and overall adorableness : Luca Buratto

* Gorski family silver medal for being a gracious and thoughtful houseguest under extreme pressure of competition demands: Luca Buratto

* Gorski family gold medal for touching our souls and filling our hearts with unforgettable music: Luca Buratto

* Special Gorski family award for watching endless hours of TV sports with Ted: LUCA BURATTO!
