Though 19-year old Tomoki Sakata is musically mature beyond his teenage years, that doesn’t prevent him from turning into a giddy school-boy upon meeting one of his sports idols — star Texas Rangers pitcher Yu Darvish.

A few hours before Wednesday night’s Rangers game against the Arizona Diamondbacks, Sakata had a five-minute conversation with Darvish, entirely in his native Japanese.

At the chat’s end, Darvish made Sakata even happier by giving him an autographed baseball.

“It was awesome, just great,” Sakata gushed later. “He was so nice to wish me good luck in the competition. Yes, he is very tall, and such a very nice man.”
