FORT WORTH — A truck driver was killed Tuesday morning after the 18-wheeler he was driving was forced off Interstate 35W by another tractor-trailer rig, Fort Worth police said.

The driver of the other truck continued south on I-35W without stopping, said Fort Worth police spokesman Sgt. Kelly Peel.

The crashed 18-wheeler flipped shortly before 8 a.m. Tuesday in the southbound lane of I-35W near Heritage Trace Parkway in north Fort Worth.

Several police and fire units responded to the call that came in at 7:51 a.m. The truck apparently rolled and ended up on its side in a grassy area to the side of the freeway.

Fort Worth Fire rescue units extricated the victim from the wreckage.

The freeway’s southbound lanes were shut down at the Heritage Trace exit until the wrecked truck was uprighted and its cargo offloaded.
