An ammonia leak at a business forced an evacuation Sunday morning, but no one was injured.

Firefighters were dispatched at about 8 a.m. Sunday to the Five Star Custom Foods, a food processing and packaging plant, in the 3700 block of E. 1st St. after a report of a leak.

Plant officials had started an evacuation when firefighters arrived, but three workers were unaccounted for at the scene, said Battalion Chief Richard Harrison Sunday in a news release.

Specialized hazardous material crews searched the business and found the three plant workers in protective gear attempting to stop the leak. At some point, the leak was repaired.

Crews allowed the ammonia vapors to dissipate and the workers were later allowed back into the plant.
