In regard to Stephen Kelly’s May 10 letter about musicians’ wages and working conditions in Texas clubs: You have the freedom to move, work in venues that don’t allow smoking, or practice as if it’s a normal job for eight hours a day (or more), upon which time you will be a better musician who is worth more than $100 per gig. (See: “Promote live music”)

You have no right to tell a business what it must pay or what its policy must be regarding smoking on its premises.
