Exempt from laws

I’ve pondered this question for years, as have many Americans. We all know that Congress makes laws, many of which are worthless, but the laws they make should apply to all citizens.

Our politicians, of both parties, choose what laws they should follow and those that they feel do not apply to themselves.

Can a living soul, anywhere, suggest a logical explanation as to why they should be exempt (other than the fact they voted that way) from many laws they create for us?
