Savory to sweet, people’s palettes were pleased Thursday at the Taste of Parker County.

The annual event, which took place at the Parker County Sheriff’s Posse Clubhouse, is a fundraiser for the Weatherford College Foundation.

Food from several popular restaurants in and around Weatherford and Parker County, including Rosa’s Cafe, Taco Cabana, Starbucks, Golden Moon, The Wild Mushroom, Chicken Express and a host of others, was offered up in hopes of earning the attendees’ votes and claiming top billing in several categories. Some newcomers also present this year were Short Chef Creations, whose carved watermelon was an eye-catching item at its booth, and Copper Creek.

“This is one of our favorite nights of the year,” said Brent Baker, executive director of the WC Foundation. “No speaker, no program…the star of the night is the food.”

Baker said more than 300 people attended Thursday and that the event will raise somewhere in the neighborhood of $20,000 for the WC Foundation.

Sponsors this year were Southwest Auto Group, First National Bank of Weatherford and Plains Capital Bank.
