The live-in boyfriend of a woman found dead along with her 14-year-old daughter on Sunday was arrested Monday in New Mexico, police reported.

Kirkland Reed, 45, was arrested in Alamogordo, N.M., after he was “located in a hospital,” police Detective Lyle Gensler said in a news release.

The bodies of Jennifer Krieger, 44, and her daughter Kelsie were found shortly after 9 a.m. in their home in the 1800 block of Sandra Lane.

Officers had gone there after a family member called police to say that she could not get anyone to answer the doors, which were locked.

Police forced their way inside and found the mother and daughter.

“The crime is being investigated as a family violence offense,” Gensler said.

Krieger and Reed “were in a dating relationship and both lived at the location where the offense occurred,” he said.

Gensler said detectives went to New Mexico to interview Reed “and seize additional evidence.”

It was unclear late Tuesday when Reed would be returned to Texas.
