You may not have written down all the good advice your father has given you, but at least you can do the next best thing: draw a picture of him as a tribute.

In honor of Father’s Day, we’re bringing back our popular “draw your dad” reader contest. Whether you’re a budding 3-year-old crayon artist or a skilled 83-year-old painter, we want you to create a piece of original artwork of your dad.

You can use pencil, pen, paint or whatever drawing tool you would like to illustrate him. (It must be a drawing or painting, though — no sculptures.)

A panel of judges will select winners in five age categories: 5 years and younger, 6-8 years old, 9-12 years old, teens (ages 13-18), and adults (older than 18). (The judges reserve the right to create other age categories, as the number of entries may determine.) The winners from each category get bragging rights and will be interviewed and photographed for a story that will appear in the Life & Arts section and on Star-Telegram.com on Father’s Day, June 16.

What to do: In addition to the original artwork, you’ll need to send a photograph of your dad and write (in 100 words or fewer) how you have been inspired by him. Please include your age, address, phone number and email address. If all materials or info are not included in your entry, your submission will be disqualified.

Artwork and photographs from nonwinners will not be returned but may be used in a photo gallery online.

One entry per person, please.

Note: Your father may be living or deceased.

How to enter: Mail your original artwork, a photo of your dad and your letter to: Father’s Day Art Contest, Features Department, Star-Telegram, 808 Throckmorton St., Fort Worth, TX 76102. You also may drop off entries at the front desk of the Star-Telegram office on Throckmorton.

Deadline: Entries must be received (not postmarked) by 5 p.m. Monday, June 3.

Who can enter: You must live in or around Tarrant County. The contest is not open to Star-Telegram employees and their families.
