Nelson players earn district honors

The Byron Nelson softball team had several players named to the 5-4A All-District squad this season, including two superlative honors among the group.

Emily Wood was selected as the Catcher MVP for the Lady Bobcats on the district squad, while teammate Ashley Dumoulin was selected as the Pitcher MVP in the district.

In addition, freshman Cami Conrad, juniors Haley Gray and Ashley Silva, and senior Dani West were all named to the district's first team, while senior Kenedi Jackson, freshman Chelsie McClure and sophomore Aubrey Spasic were selected as second team players for the Lady Bobcats.

On a related note, Jacey Allen, Conrad, Dumoulin, Gray, and Wood were all named to the academic first team for Nelson, as well.

Young finishes fourth at state

Keller shot putter Luke Young finished fourth in the shot put event at the Texas state track and field meet in early May.

The Keller athlete entered the state competition as the top seed in his region with a mark of 56-08.00.

In the state competition, Young threw a 56-06.00 (17.22m) to finish fourth overall.

Young won his regional championship to advance to state.

GNWSA registration open

Registration for the Greater Northwest Soccer Association is now open to players and parents for the fall and spring seasons.

Youth Recreation League requires that athletes be at least three years of age before July 31 for the fall season, and before December 31 for the spring, and the early registration fee is $80 per athlete.

Early registration runs from May 16 – July 6, regular registration is from July 7-17 and late registration is from July 22-31.

The fee for late registration is $110 per athlete.

Athletics registration available online

Athletics registration for the 2013-2014 school year is now available on the Keller ISD web site at www.kellerisd.net for middle and high school students.

According to the site, “parents and legal guardians of all Keller ISD student athletes entering grades 7-12 are required to fill out and submit the required UIL and District forms prior to the 2013-14 school year in order to participate in his or her school's athletic program.”
