TCU climbed into second place Saturday to claim a spot in the NCAA Championship at the NCAA Regional at Palouse Ridge Golf Club in Pullman, Wash. The Frogs earned their fourth Championship berth in the past five years.

TCU matched tournament champion Cal for the low round of the day with an 8-under 280 to move to 23 under for the weekend, one stroke ahead of St. Mary’s (22 under).

The Frogs are set to compete at the NCAA Championship for the 14th time in coach Bill Montigel’s 26-year tenure and the 17th time in school history.

TCU received a big final-round boost from Ben Hogan Award finalist Julian Brun, who turned in the low round of the day with a 5-under 67 and finished tied for sixth. TCU’s Daniel Jennevret finished tied for ninth at 6 under after a final round 71.

Top-ranked Cal and TCU were followed by Southern Cal and Ball State. They will be joined at the national championship, May 28-June 2 in Alpharetta, Ga., by Ball State, which defeated San Diego State in a one-hole playoff to earn the final berth.
