A 29-year-old Benbrook man has been charged with murder in a shooting after a traffic dispute May 10.

Jesse Ray Ybarra is accused of fatally shooting Jesse Garrison Jr., 28.

Investigators believe that both men were traveling west on East Maddox Avenue near Riverside Drive about 11:30 p.m. May 10.

“As the road narrowed, the suspect vehicle was beside the victim’s vehicle,” police officials said in an email. “Both vehicles began to slow down and speed up trying to merge.”

Soon after, the cars pulled over on Milano Avenue.

Police said Ybarra and Garrison got out of their cars and began arguing. Ybarra pulled a gun and fired several shots at Garrison.

Garrison was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital and was pronounced dead at 12:12 a.m.

Ybarra was arrested on a murder warrant Tuesday in Cleburne. He remained in the Mansfield Jail on Friday, with bail set at $75,000.
