An anonymous tip led police to a rental truck that contained about $1.6 million worth of marijuana, police said Wednesday.

Four men were arrested in connection with the seizure of 1,686 pounds of marijuana, which occurred on Monday.

Acting on the tip, officers located the rental truck on Monday parked on Irving Boulevard. As authorities conducted a surveillance on the truck, a vehicle drove by the truck, dropped off a man who got into the rental truck and drove away, police said in a news release.

Officers stopped the truck on a traffic violation and a drug detection dog alerted officers while walking around the truck, police said.

Authorities searched the cargo area of the truck and found about 100 cardboard boxes containing marijuana. Some boxes also contained powder cement.

The investigation led to the arrest of Laurencio Hernandez Jr., 44; Jose Alberto Flores, 25; Oscar Hernandez, 21; and Juan Luis Rangel, 36. Each face a charge of possession of marijuana under 2,000 pounds.

The four were in the Irving Jail Wednesday in lieu of $750,000 bail each.
