“Regionalism” is often evoked to forward a parochial agenda and to get the “region” to buy in.

When the issue, however, is the location of a high-speed rail station in Dallas-Fort Worth, there has to be a truly regional discussion, and I’d like to register as a voice trying to be regional, not parochial.

The station for the Metroplex must be at Dallas/Fort Worth Airport through the Texas 360 corridor. I’m from the east of the Dallas-Tarrant County line and an Irving council member, so a station in downtown Dallas might be construed as advantageous to us. However, the airport is the economic lifeblood of the region that we must all rally behind.

The region must make the right decision and bring high-speed rail directly into the terminal areas of D/FW Airport.

— Rose Cannaday, Irving City Council member
