The Weatherford Art Association will sponsor the annual Peach Festival Art Show and Sale, Sat., July 13. Art Registration will be Thurs., June 27 from 4 to 7 p.m.; Friday, June 28 from noon to 7 p.m., and Saturday, June 29, noon to 6 p.m. at the Firehouse Art Gallery located at 119 W. Palo Pinto St., Weatherford.

The competition is open to all artists, both students and adults, varying in different levels of expertise. Categories include oils/ acrylics, watercolor, graphics (pencil, pen/ink, prismacolor, pastels), experimental, photography (including digital art), and 3-Dimensional art. Competition is divided into three groups: Adult artists, Student artists (grades K-12), and Novice artists (for those who have less than two years experience).

There will be a judged show for the Peach Festival with awards, ribbons, cash and merchandise awards for each category. The awards ceremony will be hosted at the Firehouse Art Center at 3 p.m. on July 13 during the Peach Festival. The Association has the right to assign and/or combine categories if insufficient entries are received.

Our judge for this year is Rebecca Zook, a nationally known artist from Granbury. Zook received a full academic scholarship to Southern Methodist University in Dallas, where she majored in Advertising Art and gained her BFA degree.

Zook has worked in many media, but has settled on painting in acrylics to express herself. She relies on a high level of detail and a strong sense of light to tie her work together.
