Police are looking for a driver who was involved in a three-vehicle wreck Saturday that killed a woman on Interstate 20 in Grand Prairie.

The crash was reported at 6:40 p.m. on eastbound Interstate 20 at Texas 161, said Sgt. Eric Hansen of the Grand Prairie Police Department’s traffic division. Hansen said this was the ninth traffic fatality in Grand Prairie this year.

Witnesses told police that a green Dodge Caravan was eastbound on I-20 in the far left lane when it changed lanes into the center lane and struck a gray Mercury Grand Marquis.

The two vehicles “spun across all lanes of traffic” until the Mercury hit a Toyota Tundra pickup that was stopped on the right shoulder, Hansen said.

A passenger in the Mercury, Julie Stoker, 42, of Dallas, was pronounced dead at Methodist Charlton Medical Center in Dallas, Hansen said. The driver of the Mercury also was taken to Charlton with non-life-threatening injuries. Three people in the Toyota were treated and released at the scene.

The driver of the Dodge Caravan stopped briefly, but fled the scene. Witnesses recorded the license plate number and gave it to police, Hansen said.

“The Caravan was found at the registered owner’s address in Lancaster,” Hansen said, “but the driver remains at large and faces felony charges of failure to stop and render aid.”

Police on Sunday did not release any other information about the driver.
