Texas Wesleyan is set to return to the NAIA Baseball National Championship after a two-year absence as the second-seed of the Montgomery Bracket.

Wesleyan, receiving an automatic bid by finishing second in the Red River Athletic Conference Tournament, takes on No. 21 Georgetown College of Kentucky at 3 p.m. Thursday at Faulkner University in Montgomery, Ala.

The Rams (40-16) finished the season ranked No. 16 in the NAIA National Poll. The Rams are 6-4 all-time in the tournament, but have not advanced beyond the regional tournament in program history.

Georgetown (35-17) enters the first round having lost in the Mid-South Conference Tournament championship game and is the third-seed in the bracket.

First-seed and national No. 1 Faulkner University (47-10) will play the winner between Indiana Tech (31-16) and Mount Vernon Nazarene (32-5).

The opening round is double elimination with five teams seeded in the bracket.

Tarleton State falls in LSC Tournament

The Tarleton State Texans will have to hope for an at-large bid to the NCAA Division II baseball tournament after falling 10-9 to Texas A&M Kingsville on Sunday in the Lone Star Conference Tournament.

Tarleton State (34-16-1) entered the week ranked fifth in the South Central Region and must be in the top six to receive an at-large seed into the region tournament.

The Texans are coming off of their first regular-season championship and picked up two All-Tournament honors from the LSC Tournament.

Pitcher Matt Buckmaster led the Texans to a win over Incarnate Word in the opening round on Friday while outfielder Rustin Thomas hit .529 with three doubles and a grand slam in the tournament.
