Editor’s note: This is a corrected version of the following letter. Because of an editing error, the version printed Wednesday contained an incorrect figure about the tax bill increase.

Ray Champney has a vision for the future of Bedford. His opponent presents no vision and has a history of abstaining on critical issues before the council and then apologizing for abstaining.

Ray voted only once for a tax increase over the effective tax rate, and that amounted to a total of $19 per year based on the average household tax evaluation. That was to pay for the library debt and avoid a decline in city services in a down economy. That’s responsible fiscal management.

Ray’s opponent has conveniently omitted his accomplishments as a council person while exaggerating hers.
