Campaign signs

My neighborhood has fought sign litter for years, and we dread the onset of the political season. Overzealous campaign workers don’t bother to ask for permission from property owners to place their signs legally away from the right-of-way. They just put them anywhere and everywhere.

There is a city ordinance prohibiting this from happening, but we’re told that Code Compliance does nothing about political signs. Why not? We live with these signs for months, and then we have to pick them up after the campaign season is over.

If there is a sign ordinance it should apply to everyone. Politicians should not be exempt.
