In a recent speech at the University of North Texas, former secretary of state Condoleezza Rice stated, “The crisis in K-12 education is the greatest national security threat we face in this country. The very foundation of who we are depends on it being true that you can come from humble circumstances and go on to do great things.”

As a retired high school principal, I concur wholeheartedly. I served 28 years in the Arlington school district, and it excites me to see the district poised for greatness.

I commend the board of trustees and superintendent Cavazos for their bold leadership. Trustees John Hibbs and Jamie Sullins have earned the opportunity to serve a second term.
